In my academic and policy work, the final output often leaves little space for the personal motivations behind a project: what caught my attention, why a question stayed with me, or how my understanding of it changed along the way. Those stories are not necessarily needed to make an argument or present a result. But they can make the research more approachable, and they are part of what makes doing it interesting to me.

This blog will be a place to share those stories. Some posts will accompany papers or policy publications, offering a more personal account of why I pursued a particular question and what I found interesting along the way. Rather than simply summarizing the finished work, I want to write about the curiosity that led to it, the choices I made, and the questions it left open.

I also want to write about research that never became a paper or a report. Not every question leads to a publishable result, and not every worthwhile exploration ends with a deliverable. There can still be an insight worth sharing, an unexpected connection, an unexplained correlation, or simply a good story. I would like those experiences to have a home here too.

Some posts will be written while I am still trying to understand something; others may be closer to calls for help. I hope these stories inspire fellow researchers to take a question further or discover something interesting of their own.

Ultimately, I want this to be a less formal place to think and write about research: why I do it, what I learn from it, and what makes it enjoyable even when it does not go where I expected. I hope it also creates opportunities for conversation with people who find the same questions interesting or see them differently.
